Your Baby’s Name Can Affect Their Personalized Baby Gifts
What Your Baby’s Name Says About You
Baby naming can be tricky business – for one, it’s a decision that sticks with your child for life (nicknames aside). Baby names garner a lot of attention and comments – everyone from your mother-in-law to your next-door neighbor are going to tell you what they think of your choice. You may want to be unique—but not TOO unique. This baby is going to grow up – and turn into a child who is going to have the SPELL the name after all, and who is going to inevitably receive many personalized baby gifts – stepstools, piggy banks, name puzzles and other items. The harder the name, the more gift-givers may get the name wrong on their personalized baby gift.
Even deciding on a name within your family is hard. It has to roll off the tongue, match with your last name, and reflect the kind of parents you are. In some families, the name should honor another person or ancestor.
Is your name Vintage? (ex: Albert, Sadie, Earnest): You are either actually cool or trying to be cool. Or you truly are vintage.
Old School? (ex: Spencer, Anderson, Veronica): You are blue blood, have a pony (or several), and can pull off a polysyllabic name.
Biblical (ex: John, David, Mary): You are playing it safe – no one can make fun of a family or biblical name. And short family names look great on personalized baby gifts for boys or girls.
Totally Bizzaro (ex: Cloud Ubekshan, Maroon Thunder, Jazzy Purple): These names make you sound like you know something other people don’t. They are hard to fit on a personalized baby stepstool – but it is fun to try.
Famous Person (ex: Morrissey, Clint, Shaw): Both you and your child sound like a hipster. People can’t wait to put this name on a personalized baby gift. It makes THEM feel like a hipster when they order the personalized gift.
Foreign (ex: Pierre, Jacques, Marcella): You spent a semester abroad or briefly lived overseas, your parents are foreign, you married a foreigner, or you love foreign films.
Regrets, Regrets
Did you know that one in five parents regret their baby name choice, according to a British study. That is a LOT of personalized baby piggy banks with a lot of regret on them! Some parents wish they had picked a name which wasn’t quite as popular, while others wish they had chosen a moniker that was easier to spell or pronounce, reports The Sun.
Brits report boys’ names that have caused the most regret include William, Oliver, Jack, Alfie, Thomas and Joshua. The most-regretted girls’ names are Chloe, Ruby, Olivia, Emily, Grace and Jessica.
